If you are from Northern Ireland, then you will be well aware of the mighty 'Port'. For those of you not familiar with the slang term, the 'Port' refers, to the two key seaside towns situated on the North coast, Portstewart and Portrush. Usually a quiet and sleepy area, when the sun comes out and the school holidays roll around, it is a hotspot for people of all ages. It's understandable why. The area and it's surroundings of the North Coast are nothing short of breathtaking. The Port is probably one of my favourite places in all of Northern Ireland. Yes, there are many grander places to go, but for me, this is the place that evokes the most nostalgia. As a child ( along with every other child in the country) I came her with my parents and grandparents on a regular basis. A walk along the beach, a trip to the infamous Barry's and a bag chips before home time, was like a trip to Disneyland for me. Truth me told it kinda still is. As you got older and reached your later teens, heading to the port on a Sunday night for a drive with hundreds of other young people, was almost like a right of passage! You love it or you hate it and I absolutely love it. There are many iconic locations in both Portrush and Portstewart and the above picture is one of them! Situated along Portstewart Strand, this sign has become as popular as the beach itself. As the Easter holidays are just around the corner, plan a day to visit the area if you haven't already!
